About ClipCost

ClipCost answers one question: what does a finished AI video clip actually cost? AI video tools sell plans in credits, and every model burns credits at a different rate. ClipCost turns all of that into a dollar price per 5-second and 10-second clip so you can compare tools side by side.

Who builds it

ClipCost is built by Steve Eason (@vastidious on X), a DevOps engineer in Texas who makes AI video and drone content. It's an independent side project, not part of any AI video company.

How prices are collected

For each tool we record the published plan prices, the credits each plan includes, and how many credits each model uses per clip. These come from vendors' pricing pages, help centers and credit guides. When a vendor doesn't publish a number, we use in-app labels or third-party write-ups instead. Every row in the table links to its source.

Cost per clip = plan price ÷ plan credits × credits that clip uses. This assumes you use every credit at monthly billing. Promo prices are listed in the notes but aren't used in the math.

Checked weekly

Prices are re-checked every week (on Mondays). Anything that moved goes in the change log, and the check date is shown on every page. The weekly check is done with help from automated tools, so mistakes can slip through. Vendors also change prices between checks, so always confirm on the vendor's site before you buy.

Unverified rows

Some rows are marked unverified. Those figures come from in-app labels, third-party reports, or stated assumptions (for example, a 10-second clip costing twice a 5-second one) rather than a vendor's published price list. Use the "Hide unverified" filter on the comparison table to leave them out.

How ClipCost makes money

Some outbound links are affiliate links, marked as sponsored. If you sign up through one, ClipCost may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Rankings come only from the cost math and never from commissions. See the affiliate disclosure for the current list.
